STRATEGIES FOR CARERS OF PEOPLE LIVING WITH DEMENTIA

This program is held over 4 half day sessions (10:00 am - 2:00 pm)

The session details are as follows;

11/09/19  - Introduction session, Dementia, Behaviour and Activities
18/09/19  - Reminiscence
25/09/19  - Stimulating and Soothing the Senses and Music
09/10/19   - Creative Activities and Review Sessions

Who Should Attend

The program is for carers who are;

  • Caring for a family member or friend living with dementia

  • Concerned about behaviours such as wandering,restlessness, repetitive questioning, repeating tasks or actions, lack of motivation or boredom

Carers will;

  • Discover ways of using everyday activities to connect, have fun and share meaningful time with the person with dementia

  • Learn strategies that may settle or cease changed behaviours, or assist with a task

  • Receive written information and resources to help implement the activities and strategies at home

  • Exchange ideas and receive support and inspiration from other carers

This program is not suitable for paid care workers

Assistance with in-home respite, transport and interpreters can be arranged; please make a request when booking.

Participants must reside in the Southern Metropolitan Region
