Dementia Australia and Alfred Health Carer Services are offering a 4 session program which includes information about dementia, changes, communication and discussions about loss and grief associated with becoming a carer. Participants must be able to attend all sessions which will be held on 6/6/19, 13/6/9, 20/6/19 and 27/6/19.
The course provides;
The chance to meet other men who are caring for someone with dementia
EDIE: an immersive experience to ‘walk in the shoes’ of the person with dementia and develop understanding on how and why the person changes in the way they do
Learn skills to manage the changes in behaviour and abilities of the person with dementia
Explore avenues for supports including family, friends and community services
Discuss the impact of dementia on your relationship and your sense of self. We will explore the experience of grief and loss when someone close to you is living with dementia
Formulate a plan to cope better
The program is offered as a small group session where you will be encouraged to share your experiences and listen to and support others

Who should attend?
Family members, carers and friends who are supporting an older person with dementia
who is living at home.
Assistance with in-home respite, transport and interpreters can be arranged; please make a request when booking. Please wear comfortable clothing.
Participants must reside in the Southern Metropolitan Region
