Carer Support Programs - Aged
These programs are available to carers
- Who live in the Bayside, Cardinia, Casey, Frankston, Glen Eira, Greater Dandenong, Kingston, Mornington Peninsula, Port Phillip or Stonnington local government areas, and
- Who are providing care that is likely to be ongoing for six months or more.
Carer Support – Aged
This program supports carers of people who are over 65 years of age.
Carer Support Workers assist carers to find the balance between caring for others and caring for themselves. They can
- Meet carers' short term requirements for support and assistance
- Assist carers to plan their short and long term care and support needs
- Explore ways carers can get the most effective breaks and supports
- Provide carers with emotional support and help identify ways to improve their wellbeing
- Connect carers and the people they care for to appropriate local services, and
- Provide information about the range of aged and community services available.

Working Carers' Choices
Carer Support Workers assist carers to find the balance between caring for others and thier working responsibilities. They can
- Meet carers' short term requirements for support and assistance
- Assist carers to plan their short and long term care and support needs
- Explore ways carers can get the most effective breaks and supports
- Provide carers with emotional support and help identify ways to maintain their caring and working responsibilities
- Connect carers and the people they care for to appropriate local services
- Arrange carers to participate in organised program events and outings, and
- Provide information about the range of aged and community services available.

Residential Respite Options
- Provide carers with information about community overnight and residential respite options and how the system works
- Discuss any issues and concerns the carer and the person they care for may have
- Identify suitable respite options to meet the needs of the carer and the person being cared for
- Help the carer develop a plan for using appropriate regular respite, and
- Arrange practical assistance to prepare for and use community overnight and residential respite.
Individual Respite
Carer Support Workers can assist carers set up an ongoing and flexible respite plan, with up to 52 hours of respite being available every three months. The hours can be used weekly or accumulated to be used at regular intervals, such as monthly or quarterly.
A trained worker provides home-based support to the person being cared for and may include companionship, personal care, overnight respite and outings.

Turkish Day Respite
The carer must live in the Bayside or Kingston local council areas. This service is delivered in partnership with the Central Bayside Community Health Service.

High Level Day Respite (out-of-home)
Carer Support Workers can assist carers to organise respite during the day, for the person they care for. The respite is provided in an aged care home in Noble Park. Meals, activities and extended hours are also available.
