Carer Support Programs – Disability
Carer Support - Disability provides short-term support and assistance to carers of people with a disability who are less than 65 years of age.
These programs are available to carers
- Who live in the Bayside, Cardinia, Casey, Frankston, Glen Eira, Greater Dandenong, Kingston, Mornington Peninsula, Port Phillip or Stonnington local government areas, and
- Who have been providing care that is likely to be ongoing for at least six months or more.
Carer Support - Disability
Carer Support Workers assist carers to find the balance between caring for others and caring for themselves. They can
- Meet carers' short term requirements for support and assistance
- Assist carers to plan their short and long term care and support needs
- Provide carers with emotional support and help identify ways to improve their wellbeing
- Explore ways carers can get the most effective breaks and supports
- Connect carers and the people they care for to appropriate local services, and
- Provide information about the range of disability and community services available.
